Committees

At Cross Roads Presbyterian Church we believe in living His word through our actions. Those actions are guided through our Session, the Mission Committee, and other committees as the opportunity arises. We also believe in coming together as friends and peers in wholesome activities that enlarge our world and help to nourish our soul along with His word.

Members are always welcome to serve on any committee. At Cross Roads Presbyterian Church, we welcome new members and hence, fresh ideas. 

Below is a list of our standing committees, updated for 2012.  However, please keep in mind that not all opportunities are listed here. This provides only an overview of each committee’s responsibilities. For example, we have a vibrant Missions Committee that offers many opportunities throughout the year such as serving meals at a homeless shelter, participating in community events, helping to build a needed structure, helping to support aide in the midst of natural disasters, or helping to clothe a child.

Christian Education Committee                                                      
Chair: Brian Connolly
Adult education, Sunday School, Confirmation, Vacation Bible School, & Youth Group.

Finance Committee & Trustees
Chair: Michelle Luffey
Develop the budget and control the finances; the receipt and spending of funds.

Worship Committee
Chair: Betsy Lyons                                                                                                      
In charge of the type of worship service, worship music,  guests speakers, physical attributes of the worship service including hymnals, decorative embellishments, and bibles for the congregation.

Missions Committee
Chair: Dave Baylor
Responsible for bringing the gospel alive both locally and globally. Serving meals at the Pleasant Valley Homeless Shelter, participation with the Pregnancy Care Centers, Mars Home for Youth all fall under the Missions Committee. We support missionary work in other countries as well as a variety of other work as it arises.

Membership Committee
Chair: Doris Lemmon
Responsible for the spiritual and physical nurture of the congregation. Fellowship opportunities such as Dinner Club, Sewing Club,  The Gardening Angels, and Women’s Fellowship fall under this committee as well as the church newsletter, website, greeters, and more.

Women’s Fellowship
Chair: Betty White
An active group which sponsors many social activities and mission fundraisers throughout the year. From the Annual Flea Market to Ladies Night Out, the vibrant group has a diverse scope that always includes fun! Membership is open to all women of the church.

Property Committee 
Chair: Dave Peters
Responsible for the maintenance and expenditures related to the physical building and the grounds.

Personnel Committee:
Chair: Betsy Lyons
Responsible for handling church staffing and salaries.

Memorial Committee
Chair: Dave Peters
Responsible for receiving, acknowledging, and designating donations made in memory of someone.

Nominating Committee:
Chair: Dave Baylor
Responsible for inviting members of the church to prayerfully consider becoming and elder or deacon of the church.
